First off - Revit 2015. I'm having an issue controlling the visibility and graphics of a family from our electric consultant. I have overridden the lineweight of the light fixture category to be thicker than the default. There is a region of the plan where some of the family types are not effected by the visibility and graphics override. I had the consultants try to change it in their file and they said it worked fine. I have the consultant's model set to be controlled by the host settings.

Too many variables for us to help you without first hand knowledge.
Items you can look at -
- What category is the family in. You can build a family in any category and call it a light.
- You say you changed the line value for this category. I assume this is just the line for the model category. There can be annotative lines as well and even new sub-categories created by the family creator.
You write: "... There is a region of the plan where some of the family types are not effected by the visibility and graphics override..." Huh? Sorry - not possible. VG controls the whole view and why are you talking now about graphics over-ride. VG & Graphics over-ride are two different tools. I assumed when you initially said over-ride, you meant you changed the VG settings which is the best way. Element over-ride can be by category (same as VG) or by element - what did you do?

Thank you for your response, it was simply the view range of the rcp. The "region" issue where some lights were changing lineweights and some weren't was caused by them being at different ceiling heights, and the top of the view range being below their ceiling. I used the VG overide for the view template that was applied to this view, apologies for the confusion.

No real confusion.
Revit is a complicated program and it is hard to communicate verbally about problems. That's why it is always best to add visual attachments with added markings to show what you are talking about and to add as much support information as possible.
