When I place a "view reference" in a detail, the referenced view does not obtain "reference sheet" and "referencing details" in its properties. Callouts, sections, etc., seem to work fine from what I've found. When those views are referenced in another view, the "reference sheet" and "referencing details" properties are filled in. However if only a "view reference" is placed those properties remain empty. Has anyone found a workaround for this or have some suggestion on if I'm doing something wrong?
See attached image for clarification

There is no problem here with Revit, this is a process issue. When placing a view reference, you are given a pulldown to select the correct view. Only a view that is placed on a sheet will have that data, not a view that is not placed.

What is it that you are showing us? I don't have a clue...is it a View title? We were talking about View Reference.
A view title that is set up to back reference will only reference one location - the original location. If that view is never placed on a sheet, then there will be no reference.

Sorry for the confusion. Yes it is a View Title that is set up to back reference. The images were showing that the view is placed on a sheet, and that the view is being referenced through a view reference in another detail, but the back reference is not being updated.
