Hello all,
have an odd issue with a typical metal/brick wall in which I insert a curtain-wall type fixed window.....in that case the
wall (brick/host) layers dont seem to wrap no matter what wrap settings/layers wrapping are set, all the while the opening
seems to look ok.
On the other hand, if I place a regular window fam in the wall, the layers wraping work as expected....
So is the host wall layers wrapping w/ a curtain wall insert a bug, a known limitation, or something I'm missing where it
would work with the right settings?
I'm attaching a plan view difference between a the host wall wrapping w/ a regular win fam, vs a curtain wall insert...
please let me know..
using Revit Arch 2016

I would suspect it is because a curtain wall is a wall type and not a window type and thusly revit sees the condition as two walls hitting each other in a straight line.

marmiketin1 is correct.
You can set returns at inserts so using an opening rather that automatic embedment of the CW should work. (I have not had to do this.)

thanks for the replies...
did quite a bit of research on this issue last night, and as it turns out this issue/limitation seem to have been around in
various versions of revit for years. There is even a help file in revit 2014 help that does in fact mention either editing
the profile of the host wall or adding a wall opening....I found that editing the profile doesnt help, and the wall opening
only works when setting the wrap at ends, instead of just at inserts, on, to either exterior or interior.....neither dont give
much finer control.
From other threads either here or on augi, it would seem the best way is to create an "empty" window family with the
"wall closure" ref. plane/s where needed, and then using it to create the opening and insert wraps into the wall host, while
then simply moving the curtain wall win where the opening has been created....I'm gonna give this a shot this weekend
see how it works out.
thanks again!
