TIA,

So you can can duplicate an Autodesk Appearance Asset (locked folder) but can't then delete those duplications?? If I go to Asset Browser I can see my duplicated materials but I can't delete then to clean up unwanted duplicates. 

What am I missing. How do I delete unwanted duplicated assets from folder?

First, you say "I can see my duplicated materials but I can't delete then".  I thought you were talking about assets - not materials, which is it? 

Use the purge to remove unused assets and materials.
