In doing some research, I discovered some past forum chains that discuss this issue, however it did not appear (as of a few years ago) that there was a resolution.
I am trying to get a specific material to appear as transparent in elevational views. The properties of the material are set as having a transparency and show as such in 3D views, but for elevations, they appear as non-transparent. I know that I can override the properties of these elements by selecting the object and perform and override graphics and change the transparency, but this only affects that perticular view.
Is there a command that will do this project wide?
I am using this approach for indicating a fence that will have a large degree of transparency while also providing a appreance of pickets or chainlink. (creating a wall type that has the desired material pattern applied)
Is there a better way to construct a fence that would provide these results other than the way I am proceeding?
or am I stuck to having to go through each view and perform the override to each element?
Thanks

I've always adjusted the views individually. But, you can adjust just one elevation view, create a view template > from current view and apply it to the rest of the elevations that have the fence.

I havent yet done this myself but i had the idea the other day of using a curtain wall system to model a fence. you could use the mullions as the posts and horizontal members and then create a custom curtain panel that is either a pattern on an extrusion or actual model linework. Might be a bit more system heavy if you used model lines.
