I have drawn a part of the project in a separate drawing and now after drawing the project I have to merge the previously drawn part with the main drawing. Actually, I faced many problems while trying to achieve this merge! Firstly the levels of the two drawings are not identical.. each drawing has its own levels with its own names. Of course there are common levels (as levels not names or no. of levels) but they still differ from each other. Secondly, I couldn't put the desired part on the level I want in the main drawing. Moreover , I think that revit (main drawing) is dealing with the part required to merge as one unit. I need to merge the part so that I can put it anywhere,on any level and to be adjustable. Here are screenshots for the problem.Note: I couldn't upload the rte file of the drawings because of the forum's uploading limit!

Why are these 2 different projects? "Of course there are common levels (as levels not names or no. of levels) but they still differ from each other" If they are common levels then they should have been named the same if they are supposed to be in the same project. Unless there is something I am missing this is just a bad process on your end. I don't see anything from the images that suggests it cant be part of the same project.

well, I was asked to draw this separate part at the begining just for clarification to site engineers then my boss asked me later to draw the whole project as built. this separated part was really tough because its sections were so hard to understand and I drew it 7 mounths ago so I don't remember anything about it. And if i tried to drew it again it will take much time to re-understand its drawings and sections. Any ideas??!!!

Don't merge the two, simply link the old project. You can copy/monitor those items you may have to adjust.

Group it all together, go to a 3D view and copy it all and paste it into your other project.

If this is two phases, old and new then C/M is best.
But if this is one project, then you need to make both project's levels match floor to floor (and their names may work but I doubt it) then you could do as teafoe suggests. You problem may be level hosting and reporting.
If you group elements by levels and copy paste into the correct levels, this may work.
This is a learning experience for you. If you already have one model, you should have linked and copy monitored levels and grids. You could always turn off the link where you wanted the elements seperated.
