Hi guys,

Using Revit 2014, I'm having an issue with being able to generate and schedule the area of a generic model 4pt adaptive component in the project environment. I have applied a formula for the area in the family which seems to work ok when flexed, however when I load this into a project and place the component, it no longer appears to calculate the correct area of the panel. Instead, the area parameter is 'static' and just shows the value from the family when it was loaded.

The family rfa is attached.

Regards

D

How can you do this?  A four point adaptive component can be rectangular or trapezoidal when placed in a project.

If a material is placed with the component, you should be able to schedule that.

The formula for the Area in the family is for a genral quadrilateral, so it can accurately calculate the area of any four sided shape (so long as it's kept planar).

Yes the material and schedule method does work, but I'm curious as to whether it can be one th other way. Also, I tried this with a Curtain Panel Pattern Based family, and it worked fine in both family and project. However Revit automatically gives an area for this anyway, just not with generic models.

So I've just changed the Family Category from generic model to curtain panel and now it's giving me an area without the need for a formula.

(Sorry if this doesn't make much sense but I working this out and replying in tandem so it's kind of a real-time response).

Thanks WWHub for the help!

Regards

D
