Need to create 1-6 Gang wallbox families for my firm but I never made any families before and am still learning how to use revit here are the specfications:It would need to consist of standard wallboxes of the following sizes:
All gang boxes 2.5” deep
1-gang
2-gang
3-gang
4-gang
5-gang
6-gang
6”h x 6”w x 4”d
8”h x 8”w x 4”d
8”h x 8”w x 6”d
12”h x 12”w x 4”d
12”h x 12”w x 6”d
Each box size would need to have flush mounted versions and surface mounted versions.
For gang boxes, the flush mounted box is a different size, but the faceplate is always the same. Look online for standard dimensions.
For the other dimensioned boxes, the box size stays the same size no matter the mounting, but surface mounted boxes have faceplates of the same size. Flush mounted boxes have faceplates that are 1 inch larger (i.e. the 6”x6” box would have a 7”x7” faceplate.)
These boxes would need to be able to be placed into or on walls and ceilings. if any one could help out on step by step instructions on how to create these it would be appreciated.

That's a good quetion. Just add multiple electrical connectors to the family and define them all. Then to tag the curcuits in the project you first have to add wires to each curcuit and then tag the wires not the fixture.

Well what I was really asking is how to create these types of families because creating families is all new to me and can not find anything on how to make this exact family or at least one example.

Ok . . . . well for your first REVIT family project you picked a real doozie of a topic. Creating electrical fixture families is difficult enough without create gang boxes.
In fact I have been quoted as saying that electrical fixture family creation ranks in the top 1-2 on a scale of difficulty as it requires a great deal of understanding and practice with a combination of nested annotation symbols and solid model geometry and parameters and visibilty settings. It took me years before I could create one and really understand what I was doing. This is not just a 2d block. It is a very sophisticalled parameteric visually enhanced BIM object.
That is exactly why I created a special video training series on that specific topic titled "REVIT MEP Electrical Receptical Family" a couple years ago. The $50 CADclips subscription shown below in my signature line included that training series and 100's more videos but this is definitly NOT something that can be explained in a thread or text.

Thats exactly what I had explained to my CAD Manager that this project that you want to work on blindly with no way of knowing the exact layout on how create atleast one is going to be extremely difficult and in no way could I accomplish this with out proper step by step instructions or if they will pay for a class to learn stricitly Family creation and nothing more other wise there is no way I could accomplish such a task especially when my schooling doesnt go into depth about how to create these types of families or any families for that matter. Thats why I was hoping to find help on here to see if I could get some kind of advice or help. I appreciate your replys back on this subject.

On a scale of 1 to 10 of REVIT Family creation skill requirement, creating electrical families are a 10. They are in my opinion the most sophisticated familes to make, for serveral reasons. You need to be an expert family creator with 100's of hours of experience to try to create a basic library of REVIT electical familes. And that with using the out of the box familes and modifying them.
