Hi, I'm new to Revit, and was wondering if anyone could help me with this one. I'm trying to create a 2d component that attaches directly to the face of a wall using the "plumbing fixture wall based.rft" as a template. However, when I insert it in the project file, the relationship to the face of wall changes depending on the wall type it is being attached to. Is there a way to set the origin/insertion location to be on the face of wall? Thanks.

In the family editor add a reference plane that you align and lock to the face of the wall. Then align and lock your component to the reference plane. In the family editor flex the wall thickness to observe that it behaves correctly. To do this, take your host wall, duplicate it and give it a different thickness. Change the host walls out and make sure hte reference plane sticks to the wall face and the component moves with it. You may also want to make sure that you have reference planes checked that define the component insetion. I would use the CL of the fixture in plan and the reference plane at the wall checked as "defines origin" Where the two reference planes intersct is where the origin point will be. HTH Tom
