Hi, I made a 3D model of my Village in Revit with 20 buildings as links. Now the problem is that after loading these links Revit lags a lot.My system configuration is 32 GB RAM, 4.00 GHz Octa Processor, Nvidia Quadro K620.Now with the file running in the baground hardly any of my resources are being used.
Max is 5 GB RAM, 800 MB in the graphic card and processor is used around 30%.
The project is on an SSD and even it's not being used.
How do I reduce this lag? Is a different software recommended for such large scale projects?I plan on working on smart cities as well. What software should I use for that? Is Revit sufficient because a smart city will have many more buildings and then Revit will lag like crazy. What do I do?

We don't know enough about your projects to really answer your question. So much depends on how you modeled them and what is included.
Trees, plantings and entourage can really bog down a model. Also, interior objects. If you used families tghat are so heavy because the creators modeled items like nuts and bolts or hidden components then that too is problematic.
I insist in our office that the exterior of the building, walls, fllors, roof, windows and doors are all put on a shell workset and I turn off all interior worksets for exterior views. We also place each link in a seperate workset that can be turned off or unloaded for faster control when working in a specific area.

You could test the 3d Section Box to identify if there is a particular are of your project that is causing that delay.
Are you working in the metric system or in imperial? Revit works natively in imperial system so if you have a lot of objects in the metric system, and at a significant distance from the origin I suspect that it will do a lot of extra calculations.

If you can survive, try using and turning off worksets for building elements and/or just go to visibility graphics and turn off anything not necessary for your views. Set up some templates to be used later.
