I am having trouble moving some existing elements to my design options. In the attached "design options conundrum," you can see I split an existing wall into two parts so I can select half of it as well as the two doors that are (should be) hosted by that wall. When I try to "add to set," however, it tells me, "An insert in the main model cannot be hosted by an element in a Design Option." You can see in "Design Options Error Message" that it's highlighting the wall that I selected and a window on the other side of the house. I tried using "pick new host" for the problem window to make it hosted by the wall that it is actually in as opposed to the wall I'm trying to move to the option set, but to no avail.
Any ideas?

I don't know how that window is associated with the wall in question but we don't have your model to see everything that is happening. It could be a corruption in the file. I suggest you delete the window and try. You must move the wall and both hosted doors to your two design options.
You do know that you need two options in one option set for this? The Base option and at least one alternate.

I tried deleting the window and replacing it, but it is still apparently hosting to the wrong wall. I would post the project file for you, but the file is too large. If you had access to the file, what would you look for to troubleshoot this?
(Yes, I know that I need to move the wall and the doors that are hosted in the wall together to the option sets. I also know that you need more than one option in an option set. The issue is these windows that are hosted by the wrong wall...)
If this is happening due to corruption in the file, what are our options? Is it possible to fix a corruption or copy the good data to a clean file?

Hi Kitty
It seems that you have very little model items in your design option.
What if you delete the design options from you model, and rebuilt it again ... it appears to me that the window was added into the design option by mistake.
I expect that it would be reasonalby quick to re-insert objects into design options again if you needed to do so.
cheers, and good luck.

David- you are correct, there is almost nothing added to the design option so far.
I'm not sure I understand how starting the design option would change anything, though. There is no window in the design option. The error occurs when I try to add a wall and two doors to the design option. Revit generates an error because there are windows elsewhere in the model that Revit thinks are hosted by the wall I'm trying to add to an option set.
