In the attached screenshot1, you can see that we have two stairs going down from a basement to a garage. Since the stair extends further into the basement than the adjacent walls, I need to add a small wall under the floor on either side of the top step to hold back the earth under the basement floor.
However, when I add this small wall, it automatically joins with the adjacent wall by extending into its core, which I don't want. See how it's joining in screenshot2. I tried using the corner tool to cycle through different joining options, but it doesn't give me the option that I want: the larger wall on the left having a continuous plane down to the stair, and the small wall meeting that plane.
Any ideas?

On all walls, you have a blue button the end where you can pick to turn off/on wall join.

Hm... I see blue grips at either end of the wall. If I click them, nothing happens. If I drag the one at the edge I'm trying to edit, it moves back to where it is.
Is there a different blue button I'm missing?
