I'm basically trying to creat a larger running bond pattern.  I started by copying the 8 x 16 CMU text in the .pat file and changed the numbers to what I thought would get the larger spacing:

*Clap Board 18x72,  18 x 72 blocks running bond

;%TYPE=MODEL

0,             0,             0,             0,             18

90,            0,             0,             36,             36,             36,             -36

However, my results are not what I'm looking for.  See attached.  What am I doing wrong?

I've read over the instructions at the top, but I suppose I'm completely missing something.  Thanks.

I'm in 2015.

Your first 36 in the second row needs to be 18

I had thought that too, but it winds up with the attached pattern.

I'm trying to get 18" in height for horizontal lines, by 72" spacing of vertical lines.

See attached.

The biggest tip for anyone trying to get started in patterns is that the x,y planes for the origin values are locked but the x,y planes for the shift values rotates with the angle.

You can test this by simply changing the 5th numbers, in the 0 degree row the 5th number shifts the horizontal lines up or down but in the 90 degree row the 5th number shifts the vertical lines left and right. This seems odd as both values are y-shifts but it is very useful when dealing with complex patterns that have many different angled lines.
