Hi. Revit 2016 here.

I have a shedload of 2D AutoCAD DWG details that need to be imported into Revit 2016. So far I have been importing them, exploding them and then cleaning them up.

At the end of doing 50 odd details, I started to wonder if there is any addins/macros that can automate the following:

1) Convert an AutoCAD line colour into a single Revit linetype?

2) Convert an AutoCAD text size into a single Revit text style?

Hatches will have to be revised individually myself as I can't see a way of doing differentiating them in AutoCAD.

Dimensions will have to just be deleted and redone in Revit as they just become exploded anyway.

Thank and Cheers

B

I would place all of the CAD in one drafting view of correct scale (get rid of dimension layers) then explode them all.   Now you can delete all linetypes that would be thin and they will all become thin.  You will have to window the entire drawing and convert the other linetypes and text style.  Now you can window and paste into new revit details in a project library file.

Thanks WWhub. Thats exactly whay I 've been doing - so I guess I was heading in the right direction.

I did look at this( http://archsmarter.com/convert-dwg-to-revit/) which interestingly refers to the use of macros to aid in the conversion process.

I've got to stop moving to practices who are in the throws of shifting from CAD to BIM. Converting details over and over can get rather tiresome.
