Is there anyway to have a window schedule return "Varies"? For example if a window type has two different sill heights it will return a blank box, which looks like a mistake on a schedule, so traditionally one would enter the word "varies". Can it be done? Thanks

No easy way to do this. Easist is to use text in paper space but hard to manage. You could add it in the remarks field.

For this very reason, I use tag by instance (mark vs. type mark). The same window type can be used in a lot of places and have different sill height, glazing, light&vent and exit requirements, new vs exist. opening, etc., etc. That’s where the tag by instance comes to the rescue.

Obviously pijpiwo, yours is the best solution. We never include sill height in the schedule because it is really irrelavant there. It is more important at the window location. We don't tag it, we dimension it in appropriate views.
