I have created a family with only one element for a bracket. Looks good in the different views including 3d view. But when

loading and placing that component into a floor plan, the element changes; the holes are in different locations, the overall

length is different, etc.; even the locked parameters have changed.

I am using Revit LT 2015

Any help would be appreciated

We can't really help because you have not given us anything to work with.

  • The actual family would help but if not that then at least:
  • Kind of family
  • Hosted ?
  • What are the 'holes and how were they created?
  • You say locked parameters have changed... Then something wasn't made right but we sure can't guess.

Sorry I'll try to be clearer

  1. It was a generic family
  2. It was not hosted
  3. The bracket had a 1/4" thick plate on the bottom in the horizontal plane. The holes were void extrusions

Your problem then is how you constrain and define your object in the family.  Remember to always have your reference planes and lines established before you add your solids and voids.  Don't lock everything.  Flex your family by changing your variables before loading it into a project.
