Hello All,
Forgive me but I am new to revit. I have a problem using the temporary dimensions where I am tryint to locate exteiror face of walls to column lines. However the temopoary dimension's witness lines continually measure either the core or the centerline of the walls. To make matters worse There are some witness line grips I can't move at all when I click on them or try to click and drag them.
In studying the various forums posts, I made sure that I:
1) In "Temoprary Dimension Properties" I made sure that Faces was selected for temporary dimensions to measure from
2) In the "Wall Type" properties, I made sure that the "Location Line" was set to Finish Face Exterior
I was hoping I could adjust overall wall lengths with the temorary dimemsions, but having the witness line grips within the walls does me no good. I am using Revit 2011.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated it!

Click on the blue grip and the temporary dimension line will jump to the other wall references. In addition, you can grab the grip and while using the tab key, you can move it to any dimenionable element.

Thanks for the response! Unfortunatley when I click on the blue grips or using the tab key, the witness line doesn't move.
Now I failed to mention that this was a stacked wall. I tried with a regular wall and I was able to move the witness lines without any problem.
Is there an issue with temporary dims and stacked walls I should research?
Thanks

Glad you added the additional information.
Stacked walls are special because Revit because the wall faces change with where the view cut is. Even so, I can still drag the grip to whatever part of the wall is within view. Even parts of the stack that may be below what is currently being cut. And once a segment of the wall stack has been selected, clicking on the grip will jump from then references for the portion of the wall stack.

OK, maybe it is was the way I created the stacked wall being a newbie and all. I am going to create a stacked wall from scratch and try again.
Thanks!
