Please help! when i am trying to copy and paste a foundation slab the dimensions change, match properties does not work either it only works for changing type of family not parameters.

You don't explain enough about what you are doing.

Copy/paste is not copy/place.

We assume you are in a structural plan with the view depth set correctly to see your slab.  Both copy/place and copy paste work so there is something you are not telling us.

I am in a single project. the issue came about when I length and width parameters were empty for a foundation slab so I just deleted it and copied one which had the parameters and then I realised the instance parameters were not exactly the same I have tried this in both 3d and plan view.

i don't understand why parameters were empty as it was a system family and a simple cuboid with no voids.

Thanks

Sorry but something is wrong with your process.

When you place a standard structural foundation slab, there are no sizes shown to begin with.  You have to sketch the foundation and finish the sketch before anything shows up in the properties.

This doesn't make any sense:  You write "...deleted it and copied one which had the parameters..." and "...then I realised the instance parameters were not exactly the same...".   Either they are the same or not.

You don't create these by changing parameters, you edit the sketch..... IN PLAN

issues was in capture, so i deleted that slab, went to cap 2 because it had the parameters I wanted, copied it using CO command but in cap 3 properties are different.

I don't understand.... Why don't you just sketch it???

When you sketch it you have temporary dimensions and you just set them to what you need.

i was just trying to understand if i was missing something in my understanding of Revit, since the copy and paste function doesn't simply copy on that object and why i can't match properties for that object!

Thanks anyway

Here is the point.   Copy and copy/paste both work and give you exact copies.  So someting is wrong with your process or possibly something else.

Match properties is: "Match Type Tool"  It does not match instance properties.   You can read about this in your HELP.

You can try to take a dimension for width and length, then lock the dimension. Then instead pressing "Ctrl+C" for copying it, then "Ctrl+V" for pasting, use the copy command on your command bar. Or even try using the copy command instead of copying to clipboard, if that's what your doing. It sounds like you are from your previous posts.
