Hello All.  I working with aluminum and glass curtainwall profiles.  When using the curtainwall command, the profiles have a detailed 2D acad insert that can be seen in plan, section etc.  However, if I use the same profiles while trying to create a custom family (not within the curtainwall command) the acad 2D insert cannot be seen in any view.  Is there a way to have the inserts visible?

Nested details in profiles work in the project environment - I have never seen them nested/nested in the family.  I think you will have to add this detail component directly to the family just as it was to the profile family.

((( Visibility of nested families are typically set in the host family.   When you now nest the host family in another family, this switch is not set unless you pass the setting through the new host family.  I have never tried to control visibility of a nested / nested detail. ))

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I have added the acad 2D detail.  For example if I make a mullion extrusion, I dont need to make a profile for the glazing vinyl, the pressure plate etc.  The only thing that is important is the perimeter of the mullion body and the beauty cap.  However, if I create a custom family using these profiles with a sweep and then import into a project.  I cannot see the acad 2d insert.  It only seems to work when using the curtainwall command.

Sorry but your posts are confusing.  If I use a profile family, with an embedded detail component, as a wall sweep profile, it works just like it would with a CW mullion.  So I know using this elsewhere works just fine.

So .... You original post seemed to imply that you were using a profile family within another family - not in the project environment.   Maybe you should share this family so we can see what you are trying to do.

Yes, the profile is being used in a family that I am creating and then importing into the project.  The imbedded detail is not visible in either the newly created family nor the project it is imported into.

Sorry - I'm done here.   I can't help you when you only repeat your verbal descriptions.   Just not enough information.

Hello Again  and thank you for your patience.

Here are three rfa files.  The mullion profile, a family with a five foot sweep of this mullion and then the family imported into a project.

So, in the profile file we can see the imbedded acad section but you cannot see it in either the CW Mullion family I created nor the CW Mullion project I imported it into.

When you use the Curtainwall command in a project you see the imbeds?
