Does anyone know what method Revit uses to monitor objects during the Copy/Monitor process? I assumed it was the GUID of an object, but through testing I concluded this is not true.
As background, I am trying to link an IFC file either by opening, saving as an RVT and linking the RVT file in, or by using the new 2016 functionality of linking with the ability to make objects room bounding and host elements. Revit often thinks objects have been deleted, including levels and grids. Sometimes I have success moving a wall and Revit recognizing it, but more often than not the wall has lost its monitoring association (the copy/monitored wall is still monitor something, just not the wall it's supposed to be). It seems like Revit shuffles around whatever ID it is using to track objects.
Please let me know if more information is required. It's a difficult query to explain. (Revit 2015 and 2016)
