whenever i try to tag anything, it tells me "material tag not loaded would you like to load one?"
what do i load? i loaded everything i could find with the suffix of "tag" and nothing seems to work.
can i create one and how? i tried to create an annotation symbol family but there doesn't seem to be a material tag option there either.
completely stumped!

It is a standard tag. We renamed the folder so don't pay attention to that. You will find it in the families/annotations/architectural:

i couln't find a material tag in there either.
i selected 'Anno_Label' in the architectural folder and it says it's not a family of the material tag category.
i attached two screenshot to explain...

That is NOT the stock (English) library because nothing has an ANNO beginning in the name. Obviously your library has been edited.

Here is the stock US Metric Lbrary and I would assume the UK is very similar. As you can see, it doesn't even come close to your list. But the items you show are in the root. See second image.
Did you look for a sub-folder?

IN ANNOTATIONS I HAVE A 'TAGS' FOLDER AND AN 'ARCHITECTURAL' FOLDER. NEITEHR ARE SET UP LIKE YOUR 'ARCHITECTURAL' FOLDER. (SEE SCREENSHOTS)
WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO SEND ME THE MATERIAL TAG FAMILY YOU HAVE IN YOUR METRIC LIBRARY?
I WOULDN'T NO WHERE TO BEGIN CREATING A MATERIAL TAG FAMILY FROM SCRATCH.

In all of your posts, you don't bother to say what Revit. You have been around long enough to know that this is important. I am including a 2014 Tag. If that's not early enough - then tough! If your working in a professional field then you should understand the importance of communication!
You really should look at a re-install because you may be missing a lot more than just this tag.

i'm not sure i deserved that cheeky response, but i'm going to rise above it and say thank you for the material tag and all the help you've given me so far.
i use revit 2015. i thought you might want to know that the revit 2014 material tag worked in Revit 2015.
i will also reinstall revit again to see if it rectifies the metric library problem. i reinstalled it quite recently, so i'm not 100% convinced it will work, but no harm in trying i guess.
thanks
