I wouldn't suggest 3D modelling a profile roof sheeting, as the amount of 3D information each sheet would contain would make your model size very large and slow it down too much.
I would build up the roof to give you the correct overall thickness ( from face of internal finish to face of external finish and make sure the external finish material uses a region fill model pattern that matches your profile sheet pattern. This way any view (elevation, section, roof plan) you take of that roof will show the correct sheeting pattern and any section you take through the roof will show the correct overall buildup. When you come to do the 1:5/1:10 details of the roof then just draw over the top of the 3D section, the 2d linework to represent the true metal profile.
If you want to show the actual profile in 3D try searching through youtube, there is heaps of help videos there including:

Sinc roofing patterns will differ depending on what your supplier uses.
Start by searching Revitcity for pat files such as
http://www.revitcity.com/downloads.php?action=downloadnow&object_id=3080&object_file_type=pat
http://www.revitcity.com/downloads.php?action=downloadnow&object_id=3137&object_file_type=pat
or try googling revit pat files
or better still you can learn to write your own pat files (see attached description)
