This was a problem we were having earlier today and I'm posting just in case someone else runs into this.

Revit 2016

We were trying to select items on 2 seperate levels of a building from their plan views aka rooms & walls of Level 01 and rooms and walls of Level 02).  We moved the selection box across the area on Level 01 plan view and it showed the selection box and selected everything within that box.  We then go to Level 02 plan view and try to select rooms (and any additional walls) stacked directly on top of the previous rooms by holding down 'ctrl' and clicking and dragging the curser.  However, here the selection box did not display AND nothing was selected.

What we found was that when we selected items on Level 01 plan view, included were Stair:Supports.  Once those were filtered out, the selection box and selections worked properly on both level views.  I am guessing that this was an issues since the entire stair was not selected in the intial window.  Sloppy job on our end... always check your filters!!!
