I am setting up wall families for our office template, (in Australia).
I have a question about the level of detail to be shown in the wall structure.
For example, a brick veneer wall:
Do you make a finish on the inside face of the wall for 13mm plasterboard? Or dor you leave it off so that any dimensions to the inside face of a wall are to the studwork?
Also, for example. a brick veneer wall with concrete render:
Do you make a standard brick veneer wall, then put say another external finish of say 10mm cement render or do you just make a separate material that is bickwork in plan but looks like cement render in 3d/elevations?
Basically, what degree of detail do you go into?
Should such things as these finishes only be picked up in details (say 1:10 or larger) and drawn as 2d info?
Opinions appreciated.

Well, you can actually do any of the options you've mentioned, and all of them will work fine...
...depending on what level of detail you are trying to get to. We get it right down to the layer of plaster on the external cladding, and if you get the cut patterns right it looks awesome in detail views (check out the attatched file - only a draft but coming along nice we think - the bright green is supposed to represent the wall framing...).
Bear in mind that you can make dimensions snap to the inside and outside faces of the core boundary, ie. you can have the dimension to the face of the GIb or the face of the Framing (as long as the framing is part of the core, and the Gib is part of one of the finish layers) your choice. So you can still dimension to the framing when you have plasterboard.
Wola!

I always show my differnet layer on walls for a simple reason, you are not going to make costly mistakes in tight places where you forgot to include wall finishes, furring chanels, etc...
it's not really hard to implement and won't put a huge load on your drawings...
