Tried linking the Auto Cad file of a site I am working with. To turn the 2D topo lines into a 3D surface. But everytime I try to link it, it won't open the CAD file.

The CAD file is newer than the Revit version you are using.

Did you open the CAD file? It could be corrupted.
This is a pretty straight forward process.

Yea I did check. Nothing is wrong with the file. I watch the video more times then I can count online on how to bring in and make it 3D. My problems is I cant see the file I linked. I know how to create the surface once its in and what not. I just can't see the file, even if it has already been linked.

And now we hear the true story. The problem is not that it won't open as you originally posted. It is linked but you can't see it. Do a zoom e. The file is way out in space.
Read up on how to import/link in your help. If the site file and your revit file are not coordinated, use a center to center import/link.
BTW - If you looked at manage links - you would have sen that the file was linked.

Ok so now its there but when you go to topo surface, then create from import and choose the lines that need to be created into a 3D surface. It wont create it in 3D.... what you you suggest?

Did you look at the CAD? You said you did. Are the contour lines really elevated? In other words, is contour line 100 at elevation 100? and 110 is at elevation 110. The lines must be 3D polylines! Are the contour lines on their own layer(s)?
You said you watched the videos on how to do this. You don't chose the contour lines to create the site. You pick create from import and pick which CAD layers contain the 3D contours and Revit will use them.
