Does anyone have a good method for importing complex 3D dwg models into revit. We are working on a project with external consultants modeling manufacturing tanks & equipment in DWG. If we import these into our model it slows everything down to a unusable crawl. Ideally we need these tanks in the model & as they are contunually updated as the project progresses it is not worth us spending the time to model place holder families
Hopefully someone has a solution

The solution is first - try not to do this.
Second - Link - DON'T IMPORT and place the link on a workset that is normally not loaded. (Learn how to use a reduced load at startup.)
And finally - hopefully the people that created the CAD placed their over modeled elements on layers that you can turn off in the import. You don't need screws and bolts!
