I have a the same material finish on both a floor and wall finish but the renders are coming out with the floor being significantly darker. I dont think it is a case of shadows, can anyone help?

Revit always shows different shade values for surfaces that are not parallel .... kind of like in real life - right?

If it's not the shadows then I doubt you have the same materials for both the floor and walls. What color are they supposed to be?
