Hi,  I am attempting to create a library of 2D representations that represent furniture fixtures. Is there a way to create detail components with parameter types? I would like to create 2 or more very similar 2d components on top of each other without having to make 3d families.

My plan is to create families with an family per type of fixture, starting with symbolic lines to show their place in plan, and then to model over these 2d symbolic lines when I become better at family modeling. I can't figure out how to create a 'viibilty' parameter that just shows slight 2d variations in a family, perhaps a detail component can accomplish this?  Any clarity would be much appreciated!

I am new to Revit, thank you for typing slow for me Smile

You don't want to do detail components.  Furniture families are the correct process with the 3D elements turned off in plans, elevations and sections.  All of the symbollic linework should be set to 2D.  You can control the visibility of this linework with parameters - so you could have different 'types' with these settings.
