I'm using Revit 2015 and trying to build a direct/indirect linear pendant. The manuf provides 3 lengths (4', 8' and 12') that I currently have set up as type parameters.
I'm using the rectangular light source definition and changing the length and width for each type so it matches the fixture length.
My problem is, the 4' looks fine. Rendered on medium it shows a little hot spot but overall not bad. The longer 2 are giving me issues. All you see is a hot spot in the center with virtually no dispersion of light (it seems to throw it up to the ceiling fine, and it appears to be throwing it down, but the illumination of the fixture is off).
I'm attaching a rendered image (rendered at medium with the soft edges checked).
I've read that Revit just doesn't handle longer fixtures since they didn't make them that long...but now with LEDs, you'd think there would be some way... Does anyone have something else I can try? What am I missing?
Thanks in advance!

From your HELP, read this and look at the 2' dimension in the image below.

Thanks, WWHub. I've already done that based on all the other lighting threads on here (and other forums). I'm attaching a screen shot of my 8' type properties...the emit from length changes with each type. Yet, it's not stretching to that length. I'm also attaching a screen shot of my light source definition. I believe this is the best choice for what I want and it seems to be almost there, aside from not actually stretching with the length of the fixture.
What am I missing?? I feel like I'm in line with the link and image you provided...so stumped. Thanks in advance.

Back when Accurender was packaged as part of Revit, lighting worked very well. I have never liked how it works now and in this case, I can't get it to work correctly either. I did get the symbol length to change by setting it = to the emit line length but it renders as a spot.
My test was 2014

Thanks for trying WWHub. Part of me is glad that aomeone else is stumped (that it's not just me), but I really need to find a solution!

To anyone looking at this with a similar issue, I did start playing with the light loss factor. I increased the number with the longer types (in my case, LLF 1 for the 4'; LLF 2 for the 8' and LLF 3 for the 12'). It's still far from perfect, but it's certainly an improvement.
