I have to place 9 data outlets on a patient headwall. There are 24 patient rooms, each configured a little differently. I just want to schedule/count/total the number of devices at this point. I don't want to place the devices 24 times because the configuration will change. It would be nice to place them in 1 room, and multiply by the number of typical rooms.
I placed the devices in one of the rooms. I created a shared parameter (number) for data devices called "TYP RM MULTIPLIER". I select one of the devices in the typical room, entered "24" into the newly created parameter...Because it is going to be typical of 24.
Now in the schedule, I want to count it as if it existed 24 times. Seems simple, but revit will not allow this.
I have tried creating a "faux count" parameter which is always 1. Then I could multiply "FAUX COUNT" x "TYP RM MULTIPLIER." That worked, except now every time I insert an outlet, I have to enter data into "FAUX COUNT." There is no way to have it be "1" by default. If someone else works on the job, they will forget to do this step and the counts will be off.
We have typical room layouts in EVERY job at the preliminary stages, when we are more concerned with counts than exact placement. If I could get this to work, it would save a lot of time.
Anyone else?

Have you heard of groups?
Group one of your rooms and place it or even array it (uncheck group in the array). You can swap out individual group with a new, corrected group when you create that.
