revit 2015 r2 renovation project I have a existing wall with some doors being infilled (in new const phase), then the wall continues as a new wall. I then want to place a door approx where the wall changes phase. The door won't cut both walls - if I place the door nearer the new wall, it gets cut, if I place it nearer the existing, that gets cut. If I delete the door instead of demoing then behavior is "normal" (as expected). I did a little test to show the behavior (see attached screenshots).

Think about how you do this.... You will be demolishing the old wall from the edge of the opening up.  So do that and place your new wall to fill that area and have the door.

Thanks, I solved the problem by demoing more wall, to the far edge of the demoed door. I think that is what you were saying to do, and would be what is actually done in the field (i.e. you wouldn't infill a door, then partly demo for new door).
