Hi.
first of all im using Revit 2014 study licence.
Im doing a project where i have to design and draw an arch-bridge. my questions are:
1. How do i make the girder/slap (where the cars are to drive)??
2. for presenting the project, it would be nice to make a "movie" can that be done in revit or do i need a thirdparty program??
Hope that there some super users who can guide me along..
Thx. in advance.

1. Use floors for the road and structural members for the supports
2. You can do walkthroughs in Revit however it can be cumbersome so a 3rd party may be better.

Thx for the reply.
I tried using floors but cant get them to follow a curve in the horisontal plane. any hints on how to make that?

For the curve roads... you could do an in-place family and model a simple extrusion in the shape it needs to be. A better solution may be to do a "roof by extrusion" though. If you already have the arc shape, you can use the "pick line" tool and also your thickness will easily be established by the "Roof type" you choose.
For walkthroughs, I love Lumion. It's incredibly easy and intuitive. The only downside is the watermark if you use the free version. It still looks so good though that we sometimes show clients images even with the watermark and they don't even care.

Here's some images...
If you aren't familiar with Roof by Extrusions... this is one of the few times in Revit where you will be in sketch mode and not actually make a closed loop. That is because the thickness of the roof is established by the roof type as I mentioned. So simply pick or draw the shape as a single (or chain) of lines and then hit finish!

Thx.
Ill try to use the roof by extrusion, maybe that will be a better solution than floors.
Lumion i will take a look at.. hopefully it could do the trick. :-)
thx again.

I kinda rushed the answer but the best way to do it is this:
1. In plan view draw a reference plane and name it
2. Go to an elevation or section view and choose Roof by Extrusion
3. When it asks what work plane to extrude from, choose the one you drew
4. Make the shape
5. Finish
6. Control the width of your "Road"(roof) in the properties (or use the grips- which is a less accurate way)
Let us know if there are more questions, good luck!

ive tested the Lumion, it works :-)
and the bridge deck is made as a roof, that works too..
i need to put some railings and the build in function, wont let me use railings on roof only on floors ramps or stairs.. any good hints for this?

Well it's certainly possible but quite tricky if you don't have a grasp on adaptive components... good luck!
