Hi all,
I work with many consultants who are AutoCAD-based, and I thus regularly link their drawings into my Revit model, to use as base-drawings.
Should I need to make any changes to the linked drawings and then Reload the linked file, one has to navigate through the "Manage links" tab, then search for the specific linked file among a long list of linked drawings.
My wishlist request is that when working, one should be able to simply select the linked drawing (on plan, for example), then right-click, and the pop-up menu should have a "Reload" function. Quick and easy.
I mention this because the specific project I am working on is quite large, and having to navigate through 50-plus linked files to try and find a specific file every time in the list seems very tedious.
Cheers.

You do know "If the source file of the link in your project has changed, Revit automatically updates the link when you open the project."
In most cases, the automatic reload function works. But if you know a file has been updated, then you know the name. I believe the list will sort if you click on the arrow above the link name.

Hi WWHub,
Yes, I know that Revit automatically updates a link on startup; but that would necessitate closing and restarting Revit each time? Nope.
When doing services co-ordination (with multiple linked dwg's being worked on at the same time on the same view) , I'd have AutoCAD open at the same time, with the linked files open in AutoCAD, and editing the dwg's whilst working in Revit. Having to access the Manage Links tab - and then to go search for the dwg in a long list of linked files is really bothersome. Even if you do know the name to access it; I still maintain that a "Reload" function on the right-click menu should be standard.
It shouldn't be too much of a programming nightmare to add it to the right-click menu either.
Cheers.

You don't need to close Revit, just the file - much faster. If you are opening revit by double clicking on a file, that is a bad process and will cause you problems and has always been discouraged.
Your right - the right click / reload function could be useful but you would have to know where the linked file is to do that.
BTW - Although we have a wishlist thread category, Autodesk doesn't monitor it that I know of. They do monitor the AUGI wishlist.
