I have created filters for pipings using tuoe name as the selection criteria. I have specified pattern overrides so As to get a solid pattern of different colors For different pipes etc. Whenever  close and reopen my revit file the filters are found to be missing from the visibility/graphics menu. I have to manually add them and specify the pattern overrides again. I want the filters to be active evrytime I open revit. Kindly guide me on this issue

Did you follow the process described in your HELP here?

If so, then that filter is available to be assigned to a view as described here:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2014/ENU/?guid=GUID-FA7B0AD9-4F0F-4405-9DF7-35D30D7CBE7B

If you want it available in multiple models, then you should add it to your template.
