Good morning! I was hoping we could establish dialogue regarding salaries or per hour wages per region/city in the USA. I live and work in Houston, TX for a private structural consulting firm with 70 or so employees. I've been here since January 2013 and began with little Revit knowledge. Just enough to get by really. I started out at $20.00/hr with overtime. After two raises in July 2013 and July 2014 I was offered a job at Walter P. Moore (a global firm) for $24.50/hr. When I tendered my resignation the company I work for gave me $26.00/hr to stay and so I stayed. My area of focus with Revit is the modeling and live detailing of multi-family concrete high rises. I also am in constant coordination with architects and other consultants and do not strictly take cues from a project engineer.
My eventual goal is to move up to New York. So my idea is to gather as much information as I can about wages in New York City for Revit Structure drafting positions. I don't like to rely on indeed.com etc and I'd rather rely on something tangible like conversing with peers.
Is there any one on this forum currently working in NYC that can provide their hourly wage or per year salary?
How about in other regions of the USA? How much are you making an hour? What is expected of you to earn that salary?
Thanks!

Your obviously too young to know about this. Talking about hourly wage / area is like talking about water content in concrete without talking about the ratio of the other ingrediants. You have to look at cost of living.

That's why I asked users of this forum what they are making in their region. I figure cost of living is all relative. I make $26.00 an hour in Houston. That could be the equivalent of someone that makes $35/hr in NY because of cost of living. I'm not sure.
I'm 35 so I'm not too young especially when it comes to knowing how to use "your" and "you're" properly.

Couldn't you look on recruitment websites? They would give you a indication on the salary differences from area to area along with the skill sets required. I'm not from the US, but I would have thought that the cost of living in one city to another would differ a fair bit like it does here in the UK.

I would rather hear from the peers who are actually making the money and doing the work at these firms. Recruitment websites just give a general idea.
