Why do my stairs not work properly? When i cut a section through my stair they dont scale and dimension properly. For example a 190mm riser dimensions as a 166mm riser, a 255 tread as something else? And, the last tread doesn't make it to the landing! What is going on? Why can't revit do stairs properly?

stairs can be tricky little things, but we find it best to look carefully at all the properties both before and after you make stairs. little things like getting the start and end floor heights right, no of risers etc. also i found it very helpful to study help where it explains all the properties of stairs. we find stairs a wonderful tool, and not too hard, once you play around a bit.

As Latemore says, Be sure you are not confusing maximum riser height and maximum tread with actual tread and riser. In revit you do not specify values for the riser height. You give revit a start and finish level and how many risers you'd like and it then calculates what size the risers need to be. For the treads, you need to set this before you draw the sketch of the stairs. Revit will not change your sketch if you edit the tread length afterwards. HTH.
