Hi guys,

I'm having problems understanding where to place ceilings. I understand floors and ceilings are both 3D elements.

So how can you place a ceiling in a floor if theyre both 3D elements???

In a project im working on, my 2nd Floor is 9-3/8” thick and placed 8’-10” above the 1st floor. My 2nd floor is composed of:

  1. Finish - Wood glue laminated
  2. Structure: Wood sheathing
  3. Structure: Wood joist
  4. Structure: Wood  furring
  5. Structure: Gympsum wall board

My Ceiling = 1-1/4" and is composed of:

  1. Structure: wood  furring
  2. Structure: Gympsum wall board

So where does my ceiling go, at the same height of at where I placed my wood furring????

-Using Revit 2014

looks like some duplication there.

delete items 4 and 5 of floor

and leave items 1 and 2 of ceiling.

alternatively, delete only  item 5 of your floor  and only have the gypsum as your ceiling, spaced accordingly.

cheers

geoff

That make sense, just wondering is that the best way to do floors and ceilings?

Does anybody have any other methods they use to connect floors and ceilings?

Thanks geoff
