Hi,
I've been creating a bunch of custom tags, such as one for Structural Column Type Mark with options of 'Standard', 'Under' & 'Over' at 45°, 135°, 225° & 315°. This should cover pretty much all eventualities, and I was hoping, although there'll always be a bit of nudging around, to get the default positioning of the tags sorted out.
I've got the different tag positions all placed relative to the reference planes in the tag family, and the ones on the left are right-justified and the ones on the right are left-justified to keep the end nearest the column being tagged consistent - see first attached image. When I tag a column with the basic 45° tag, there's no issue - as in the second image. However, when I tag a column using one of the right-justified tags, they seem to be inserted in random locations, as the last 2 images show - these 135° tags haven't been moved at all so they should be in the mirrored position of the 45° one...
Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do as opposed to manually moving the elements in the tag family, which would be a rather random, sloppy solution

Anyone got any clues as to why this happens? I've got loads of tags that I need to create and want to get them right first time and avoid having to amend them all at a later date...

We would need to see the tag family.

I don't see anything wrong with your family. This appears to be an issue you should send to autodesk with something like the attached image. Autodesk tells us that the tag location is determined basically from the center of geometry. As we can see from the image, that is not the case.
I don't see any way of overcoming this.
