I am working on a project in revit 2015 set to project coordinates.
The CAD files are also set to the same project coordinates.
I have linked cad dwgs by shared coordinates before and had no problems.
However, the cad dwgs have been 'cleaned' and purged and relocated on our server to a different folder. They are still set to the same project coordinates but when I try to link them into my revit model I get a pop up warning and it won't let me link the file.
'Imported objects located a large distance from the model might not display properly. the 'center-to center' option will be used.' (see attached screenshot)
Does anyone know why this is happening? All suggestions welcome!
Thanks,
Kylie

Project coordinates and shared coordinates are two different things. When you cleaned up the CAD, you either changed its coordinates or you never had your file's survey coordinate set correctly to begin with.

To test out your problem, ID the coordinates of a point in your CAD file and ID the survey position (not project) of the same point in yhour Revit file.

SORRY THAT WASN'T CLEAR. THE COORDINATES ARE ALL SET (REVIT AND CAD) TO THE WORLD COORDINATES. THE EXACT POSITION OF THE BUILDING IN REAL LIFE IN THE WORLD. THE COORDINATES ARE THE SAME IN REVIT AND CAD. THE EXISTING CAD FILES THAT WERE PURGED AND CLEANED AND MOVED TO A DIFFERENT FOLDER HAVE THE SAME COORDINATES AS THEY DID BEFORE.
WHEN I LINKED THE CAD TO THE REVIT BEFORE VIA 'SHARED COORDINATES' THE CAD AND REVIT MATCHED UP PERFECTLY.
NOW WHEN I LINK THE CAD TO THE REVIT IT WON'T LET ME...

WE HAVE CHECKED THE WORLD COORDINATES OF THE NEW CAD FILES AND THEY HAVN'T CHANGED.

Sorry but I think this is still a process error but it is very hard for us to examine without more information. Many users don't fully understand the survey point, project base point operation. This video may help you if you don't. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BigvY4LT-RI
