hello all,
Ive recently today started fooling with worksets while inbetween projects. I seem to have the grasp of how it works after watching several tutorials and using the help guide. I do have one question that hopefully someone can help me out with. Is there a way to make items you model come in on a desired default workset instead of "Shared Levels and Grids"? A example....I set up a workset for "Architectural Items" and another one for "Structural items" Now while I model away at the arch items, the structural engineer in my office models the beams, columns & footings as needed. This seems to be working great so far minus having to go back and select each item and place it on the workset desired. I guess what I'm asking is....Is there a way to make modeled items come in on a certain workset instead of having to select each item and place it on there? I know it may be asking a lot but it seems quite redundant to have to model all the beams, columns and footings, then go back and select them and place them on the "Structural Items" workset I made when they come in on the "Shared levels and Grids" It would be much easier if I could somehow set his Revit to realize that anything he models will be on the "Structural Items" workset. Am I missing something here or OOTB does revit place anything modeled on "Shared Levels and Grids" and then it has to be moved to the desired workset? I hope I'm missing something. It would be much easier just knowing that anything I modeled would be placed on "x" workset that I desiredand preset. I guess in old style comparison to CAD it's like I'm drawing a line then changing the layer of that line. I'd rather just draw the line and have it on the right layer upfront. I understand why this may not be possible and I can dig working around it, I just figured why do that if I'm overlooking something that could make it easier. Thanks for any advice guys / gals.

Set the proper workset you are working in, in the box on the bottom of your view.

once again WWHub to the rescue. Thanks! that's exactly what I was looking for. Those option boxes at the top and bottom of the screen always get me. You'd think I'd learn at some point. Thanks a bunch WWHub, much appreciate sir!

At the bottom of your screen, about 3/4 of the way right is a little wrench and a green and blue box - the pull down menu to the right is the current workset you're using, like a layer in CAD (kind of)
