Hello,

I'm new to Revit as well as to this forum. I've learned a lot from you so far and I was hoping you could help now as well. I'm using Revit Structure 2014.

I want to add a parameter that will display the TOS elevation for a beam in the properties window when selected in 3D view. How can I get this information to appear in the beam properties when selected? I don't need it editable, just to display. I know I can get the elevation using the Spot Elevation Tool but I'm looking for quick, on the fly access to this information.

Thanks in advance for your help.

When you select a beam, start and end level offset (tos) is displayed in the properties (in RVT, not sure about RST) . It is relative to the level the beam is associated with. If you want it relative to the survey point, I think the spot elevation is the way to go. You don’t have to place it if you don’t need it, just hover your cursor over the steel to get a read out. For easy access, add the spot elev. tool to the QAT.

The 'Start Level Offset' and 'End Level Offset' properties are the TOS as long as the beam is top justified.
