hi all
I have a query at the office about making mass warped planes- flattened- in other words, i wans to take a four sided warped plane and extend the nodes so that i get the four nodes to lie on the same plane-
this is to avoif a waprd plane converting to two triangles!
is there asmart way to do this without a VOID cut operation? this seems to be easily done in SKETCHUP but not so much in REVIT

thanks
E

You would be better off to cut your mass with a void.

not very satisfactory... the idea woudl be to try form four sided flat planes that can be manipulated easily by some snap system- but instead- i woudl have to cut each time to update

this particular operation is very simple in sketchUP
STEP 1- i have these two triangles (right side of the box)

step 2- i now stretch one edge so that it becomes one plane

I’m not sure if that’s what you need, but you can create a form with ref lines and shape handle points (generic model adaptive family template), so each point can be moved independently in every direction. Number of points is up to you. Hope it helps.

not really
we are trying to form a complex geometry that relies only on 4-sided planes instead of the usual trianlges.. this needs to of course use flat planes and not as REVIT gives us the warped hyperbolic planes
the normal stretch grips would be fantastic - but once i have used a VOID commend... it warps the plane again...

Instead of solid mass, add vertical edges (lines) and create surfaces. When you stretch a plane, it will not twist.

as mentioned- i want 4-sided planes - not triangles
