How do I get a objects cretaed in a "future" phase to appear in my view with a line type that is distinct from the "existing", "new construction", and "demolished" line types? (revit 2012)

Phase filter/graphic over-rides settings is where this is controlled. The problem is, you can not create a new graphic over-ride called future.
I would not use a phase for future. I would use a design option and set a filter to control objects in the design option.
