I'm working in Revit 2014 & I have an already modeled, somewhat complex stair that I now need to add some risers too because of a change in floor heights. While I have plenty of room in plan to extend the bottom end of the stair I have no room in plan to extend the upper end. However, when I try to edit the stairs I appear to only be able to add risers to the top of the stair which would then require relocating all of the landings & runs below that (the entire stair...) in order to get them back in their correct plan locations. Am I missing something really obvious? Surely I don't actually need to re-model the entire stair in order to change the bottom start location?

Component stair or by sketch? Can you provide some pics?

It's a component stair, see attached image.

Grab the blue dot of the lower run and stretch.

Okay, so that gave me the attached error message, which is what I was getting before regardless of whether or not I'd already adjusted the bottom stair elevation in the properties. But, in checking it again I noticed the blue triangle next to the blue dot can be selected independently & moving that actually does add risers to the bottom, though it steals them from the top of the stair. But at least I can add risers back in at the top of the stair so I'll take it. Not sure what would happen if I had to "steal" more risers than I had in my top run but I'll worry about that another day.

This error message usually pops up when you try to extend the run (blue dot) below stair base, but you said no base offset from level was applied, …well then, must have been something else (?).
You can also adjust the run and shape handle (blue dot and triangle) in the elevation view. Kinda nice when you can see the change in the stair shape in real time.
