All of the groups placed in our model were exploded recently save one (a group with a single instance). Previously, we had been working with these groups for months without a problem.

One person was working on a couple of the groups at the time, but many of the groups had not been touched by anyone.  We did have some new team members working in the model, but none of them had tasks at all related to these groups.  Is there the equivalent "explode all" button somewhere someone could have pushed?

There is no explode all but you can select all instances and ungroup.

Sorry but this appears not to be a simple pressed the wrong button....

Thanks, I didn't think Revit would have such a button.  But perhaps a different command could have the same effect - such as a purge or a select all instances of some family type to switch it to a different family?

I am also wondering about possible file corruption or software issues - could having version 15 installed affect the performance of 14?  It has also recently happened to another model with different people...could we all be having the same user error?

just maybe:

one of your user tried to load the existing group and it didnt match the ones inside your project

or

one of your used tried to copy and paste to selected level

sometimes when i do this, revit will prompt me to fix group: ungroup or create new

even though i know that this is an exact copy of the group!

sometimes elements inside your group will have "behavior" to outside elements and making it different to existing groups
