Revit 2014
I am designing a commercial retail village. There are 12 standard building types, that will be linked into a master plan file at various locations and orientation, resulting in around 60 buildings in total.
I want to room tag and calculate internal retail space and gross areas in the master file. The function of each room space within the 12 building types will change depending on its location within the master plan.
My aim is to be able to place all the linked buildings in the master plan, and then tag each space with a unique identifier that is sequenced across the entire master plan and scheduled accordingly.
I seem to be having a few problems:
1. In the original file, all retail space has external and internal bounding walls and it is possible to area tag each space within that file. However when placed as a linked file (with “Room Bounding” on), and placing a room tag in the master file, the tag measures to the internal face of the external walls, ignoring the internal bounding walls that create each retail space.
2. If I create room tags in the original file. Then I can use the “Tag Room” in the master plan file and it will apply a label to each room, but that new tag is not editable, so I can’t use the tag sequencing and naming ( the same building type could be a retail space in one location and labeled “retail” and in another location labeled “Café” ).
3. I can’t get gross areas to be created automatically in the master file from the linked files external walls, I need to use the “Area Boundary” tool and manually create all the gross area boundaries.
Many thanks for helping me understand this.
