It doesn't look like it is possible to copy/monitor rooms in Revit, is that correct?
We are a Lab consultant and we work with a prime architect and there are several advantages to having rooms in our models for scheduling equipment and specific room data but the rooms are in the linked architectural model and just replicating their rooms in our model wouldn't let us know if the room names or numbers would change. Anyone have ideas on this?

Yep, read that but it seemed to apply to Revit MEP only and we're using Revit Architecture. I have changed the linked architectural file to room bounding and can put rooms on top of the linked rooms but that doesn't monitor them. :-(

Still trying to get room numbers/names into our equipment schedule. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this with a linked file? We are using Revit Architecture 2015.

You have amended your earlier post by now talking about "equipment schedule" but you don't list what kind of equipment.
Do you understand "ROOM AWARE" ? Read this
Also - do you understand that elements placed in one model do not associate with elements in another model?

Thanks for responding. Problem is that we are creating equipment schedules in seperate lab model, the main architectural model is linked in and that is where the rooms reside (we just tag them). Is there a way for the equipment in our model to be "room aware" of the rooms in a linked model? Or is there a way to copy/monitor the rooms into our model?

You can't C/M rooms. We all wish you could. You may be able to open a detached copy of the linked model and copy / paste rooms to your model.
BUT FIRST BEFORE SPENDING THE TIME- Make sure the equipment you are talking about is room aware. Might just start with one floor.

This looked promising for using spaces instead of rooms, up until the part where the space naming utility extension isn't available in Revit Architecture, so there was no way to link the space to the name and number of the room.

Archi-Lab has a Dynamo script that alows you to list elements from linked files by the room they are inside in the current file. Perhaps it is posible to make a script in Dynamo that can transfer the rooms, or list the elements in your file by rooms in a link.

Just tested, and it was quite simple to make a Dynamo script that can list your elements by linked room. Haven't been able to make a script that can copy the rooms from a link, but this is probably the best way, so you dont have to update rooms in your file.
