I'm with a group that is fairly new to revit, including myself, and we are creating a template tailored to our needs. One such need is to call out electrica & plumbing requirements (water size, rough in height, waste size, etc..) which is called out on a custom tag that we created (smart label that reads schedule).
Now that we have the information there we need to find a good way to place our symbols for the corresponding requirements.
My question: Is it possible to to automatically place our symbols that we created as a family into the general area that our tag is attached to, or something similar? Otherwise we are stuck at placing each symbol manually into an independent view.
I appreciate any insight you will be able to give
Thanks!

Why are you not using model components that show these locations?

The equipment families that we are using in our drawings come from a subscription database (foodservice equipment), and some of them come showing electrical/plumbing connectors, is that what you mean? Not all of the families we bring in have them so its an unreliable source of information. Sometimes we have to manually look up requirements in a spec sheet and type into the schedule.
Thanks for the response.
Please keep in mind that while I have some degree of exp. w/ Revit, the more details you are able to give can be very helpful.

I think you need to make a host, parametric family that the undefined families can be nested in. This host family would have the required connections with their locations set by type parameters.

Wouldn't this entail editing every family that needed to be used (The ones w/o connections)? Based on that your suggestion wouldn't work for us, because from one job to the next we are using very different equipment everytime.
