anyone experienced a Revit file that,, each time you open it,, will render fine once... then shut down when a second one is started? Therefore, i cannot run a walk through i need to.

You'll need to send the file to support most likely.
You could try opening the file with the audit button checked? Also make sure you are using the latest build..

This is a known problem to a lot of people, although the fix is unkown. Typically it appears to come from updating an older file into a newer version, specifically the earlier 8.1 builds. Spot is right on to see that you've got the latest build (January's, I think) which does help. I've also heard suggestions to the effect of deleting the camera view and rebuilding it. If you're using 8.1 also do an Audit on the file (Under File >Open> (lower right corner) to see if there is any bad Geometry.
Good Luck - sorry this isn't that specific.
