Hi to all,
im struggling for couple of hours how to solve the issue with linking the cad file to revit. To describe my situation I need to tell you what i try to do.
So I have a masterplan - cad drawing set up far away from the cad base point origin (which is set up to 0,0,0) so everytime i try to zoom all you can see that the actual drawing is miles away from the base point.
My Survey point (Shared Coordinates) in Revit is set up to the same coordinates as the Reference point in cad which x, y, z match the N/S, E/W, Elevation figure in Revit.
My aim is to link cad masterplan to revit without moving any drawing to 0,0,0 but this warning come up everytime:
Geometry in dwg file xxx.dwg has extents greater than 1E9 in AutoCAD units. Data exceeding that range will be truncated.....
Pleeeaaaaaaaaaaaaase I will be grateful for every help Im really desperate.
Many thanks
Luba

Pre 2011, the CAD origin limit was 2 miles then in 2011, that was increased to 20 miles. We have always had a new base point (0,0) established in the CAD file at a known x,y,z coordinate then wblock out the CAD with that point as the (0,0) for the CAD drawing.

So from my understanding I need to move every cad drawing to 0,0,0 and afterwards link it to the revit?

I did not say what you said.
You don't have to redo every CAD file just ones where the origin is too far away.

Ah sorry...the issue is that all of my cad drawings are with the same origin point so it means for me that i need to move all the cads to 0,0,0 so the proccess is really time consuming ...
i just hoped that when i move the survey and project reference point in the revit to be within 20miles I can easily linked these cads plans...but likely i was wrong..

Before you get too far here, please study again on shared positioning. This is a complicated issue and hard for most users to understand. The CAD origin point is a different issue.
